He graduated from Hacettepe University, Faculty of Education, Department of Educational Sciences, Curriculum and Instruction in 1990. He completed his master's degree in Educational Technologies at Michigan State University in 1993 and his doctorate in the same field at the University of Southern California in 1997. He has been working as a faculty member at the METU Faculty of Education since 1998.
Prof. Dr. Soner YILDIRIM has been working as an international expert in Educational Technology projects in various international organizations since 1998. He worked in the World Bank between 1998-2000, in the Council of Europe in Strasbourg between 2002-2006, and in various projects of the European Union European Education Foundation (ETF) since 2004.
His research interests include cognition, use of technology in education, instructional and feedback design, learning analytics, and nomophobia.
